Holy Family Academy came into existence after a group of lay Catholics from the Mount Angel – Salem area recognized the need for Catholic education from a classical perspective that permitted greater parental involvement in keeping with the encyclical Familiaris Consortio.

By Christmas of its first year, Holy Family was able to move into the picturesque Parkersville school building. Over time, the school grew from eleven students and one teacher aided by parents to a school of about eighty students and four teachers with an array of volunteer support.

Moving Forward

During the past seven years, 26 students have graduated from Holy family Academy with an average standardized test score in the 96th percentile for the Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills by McGraw-Hill.

Seventy-nine percent of those eighth-grade graduates have continued on to colleges, including Gonzaga University, St. Thomas Acquinas College, the University of Notre Dame and Franciscan University of Steubenville. Holy Family alumni have continued to be outstanding witnesses to the Faith among those they encounter.
